IELTS candidates in Kenya have a reason to smile, especially those of us who are not good with Pen and Paper exams, with the introduction of Computer delivered IELTS at the Nairobi Exam Centre (Oshwal College 2nd Parklands Nairobi ,) which is currently available for IELTS General and Academic Modules and I am sure British Council, Kenya is soon going to introduce Computer Delivered IELTS for Academic Module in Eldoret.
You now have the choice of taking IELTS on paper or on computer in a number of locations worldwide.
This mode of exam was first introduced in the Year 2016 and we can now have that option in Kenya, remember it is not available in many countries but soon it will be all over the world.
With computer-delivered IELTS there are more test dates available, test takers can choose IELTS at a time convenient for them, and they will receive their results in 5 to 7 days unlike Pen and Paper IELTS where candidates receive their results after about 13 days.
All other aspects of the test are exactly the same, whether it is taken on paper or on computer, including:
Content
Timings
Question types
Scoring
Speaking test delivery
Test report forms
Results verification.
This is exactly the same test as paper-based IELTS, but instead of writing your answers on paper, you will type them on a computer.
If you select this option, you will take the Listening, Reading and Writing sections on a computer, but the Speaking test will still be face-to-face with a trained IELTS Examiner as this is the most effective way to assess your speaking skills.
You need to decide whether you prefer to read the texts and write your answers on a computer, or on paper.
